The parish councils of four diocesan parishes - Allison Park, Ambridge, Belle Vernon, and New Kensington - took part in a pilot parish council training seminar on February 10 at the St. John the Baptist Church in New Kensington. To eventually be expanded to other diocesan parishes, this program is being finalized to help current and newly elected parish council members better understand their important laity leadership roles in the parish in 2024 as they work together with their parish priest to strengthen the parish’s mission for Christ in the modern setting. Speaking at the seminar were Archbishop Melchisedek, Chancellor Archpriest William Evansky, Treasurer Alexis Parshook, and the Parish Development Ministry Director Joseph Kormos.
Additional training sessions are being planned; the parish councils will be contacted directly about scheduling.
