Candle Blessing on Meeting of the Lord - February 2, 2024

Like many Orthodox Christians around the world, parishes of the Archdiocese blessed candles as part of their celebration of the Feast of the Meeting of Our Lord. Thus this Feast is sometimes known as Candlemas. In an online post, Father Theodore Bobosh, retired priest of the Diocese of the Midwest, says

On this Feast of the Meeting of the Lord, we bless candles and contemplate the role of light in the world and in our lives – a light that comes from God and is a way we experience and encounter our Creator.
