Overview

The Archdiocese of Pittsburgh & Western Pennsylvania is seeking a dynamic and organized Family Retreat Coordinator to assist in planning and executing our 2025 Family Retreat at Camp Nazareth, themed “Image of God ‘Not Made By Hands’ and the Image of God in Creation.” This role is ideal for someone passionate about Orthodox Christian youth and family ministry and looking to grow into a long-term leadership position within the archdiocese’s developing camping ministry, which we hope to premiere in Summer 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  •
  • Collaborate with the clergy liaison (Fr. Alexander Cadman) to plan and coordinate retreat logistics
  • Recruit, schedule, and communicate with volunteers
  • Manage the registration process and participant communication
  • Serve as on-site coordinator during the retreat, ensuring smooth transitions between scheduled activities
  • Co-lead with a designated event partner to maintain schedule and flow during the retreat
  • Provide post-retreat feedback and assist with evaluation
  • Optionally begin preparations for the 2026 Archdiocesan youth camp

Ideal Candidate

  •
  • Resides within the geographical boundaries of the archdiocese
  • Young or “young at heart,” with the maturity to supervise and support high school or college-aged camp counselors
  • Has experience attending Orthodox youth camps (e.g., Antiochian Village, St. Tikhon’s Camp, St. Andrew’s Camp, Camp Nazareth, or equivalent)
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiar with Orthodox liturgical life and youth ministry practices
  • Must consent to undergo a successful background check as per diocesan policy

Compensation

  •
  • Stipend (to be determined by the Archdiocesan Youth Committee after discussions with the candidate)
  • Housing and meals provided during the retreat

Opportunity to grow into a paid Camp Director role for Summer 2026
