On Friday, January 19, 2023, Orthodox Christians joined the March for Life on the Mall in Washington DC. However, many of us were unable to be there in person, so Metropolitan Tikhon asked all of our parishes to observe locally Sanctity of Life Sunday two days following the event. Resources for liturgical prayers and petitions, as well as other items, may be accessed on the Sanctity of Life Resource Page on OCA.org.
For those who were able to join the faithful in DC on Friday, the Orthodox gathering for the March for Life started by assembling at the National Mall where the March for Life Rally began at Noon. His Beatitude led the other Orthodox hierarchs and faithful in a Service of Supplication for an End to Abortion, followed by the March to the Supreme Court. The Friday events concluded with a concert of the Archdiocesan Choir of Washington, DC, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Potomac, MD. All were invited to join His Beatitude and other Orthodox faithful from across the nation in commemorating the victims of abortion and to stand in witness to the sanctity of life. More information, location addresses, and a full schedule of events can be found at the Orthodox Christians for Life website.
