December was a busy month in the Orthodox Churches of Somerset County. Holy Assumption and Ss. Peter & Paul, who are blessed to follow the Old Calendar, marked the Nativity Fast with a visit from St. Nicholas, in conjunction with a Slava Celebration. The Kresna Mamma for the Slava was Mrs. Christine Maggs, and young adults assisted in the turning of the Kolach. Charity projects were completed, including a family outreach project and a giving tree for Birthright of Somerset County, Pa. Following Liturgy at Ss. Peter & Paul in Pine Hill, a flock of domestic ducks and chickens wandered onto church property, where they were fed crumbs from the antidoron bread. In a rare, literal way, the rector was able to feed a flock, after feeding his flock! And they returned for more the next morning. This is the Nativity Season in Somerset County!
Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
