His Eminence joined His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon and members of the Holy Synod in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Boston to ordain the next Bishop of Hartford, Bishop-elect Benedict (Churchill). On Friday evening, the candidate was presented to the bishops; upon his blessing, a molebien was sung, followed by Vespers. You may watch the video of the entire Vespers service on Boxcast.tv.
On Saturday morning, prior to the Divine Liturgy, the candidate read his profession of faith to the Synod and the faithful of the diocese. During the Divine Liturgy, just prior to the reading of the Gospel, the candidate was brought into the sanctuary, and knelt in front of the altar while the Gospel was placed on his head and all bishops lay hands upon him. Following the laying on of hands, he was vested in his episcopal garments, receiving the blessing from each bishop in attendance for each piece adorned. At the end of the service, he was handed the pastoral staff of the Diocese and sent to his bishop's ambo in the center of the church to greet his faithful.
