In "preparation" for the upcoming Nativity Fast (begins November 14), two parishes hosted chili cook offs on Sunday November 5, 2023.

Down "south," the faithful of Holy Resurrection Church in Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township) held their event following the Divine Liturgy. Proceeds from the event will benefit a local charity.

Up "north," the faithful of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Allison Park held their annual chili cook off as part of the normal coffee hour following the service.
