On Sunday September 17, 2023, the faithful of St Nicholas Church in Weirton invited members of the local police and fire departments to join them for a molebien thanksgiving service following the Divine Liturgy. At the conclusion of the molebein, Father Andrew blessed each of them for their service to the community. 

Looking ahead, National First Responders Day will be celebrated in the US on Saturday, October 28. Several other parishes in the diocese have begun planning services for that day.
