Holy Trinity Church in State College will be joining the Out of the Cold: Centre County to help feed and house those in need August 7-21, 2023.
Out of the Cold: Centre County is a low-barrier shelter open from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. every night. During the 2022-2023 season, 17 congregations helped to provide overnight shelter for 175 guests. Every day our guests are welcomed warmly, served a hot meal, given a cot, warm blankets, and a place to sleep. While at the shelter guests are served breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additionally, they operate a Day Shelter which provides basic case management guests, assisting them in acquiring housing and other supportive services, located at 318 South Atherton Street in State College.
Though not one of the 17 participating congregations up until now, the faithful of the Holy Trinity community have stepped up during an ongoing renovations project at Out of the Cold and have offered Trinity House August 7-21, 2023 as an overnight shelter. Volunteers from the parish are providing a place to sleep, as well as dinner and breakfast, to those served by Out of the Cold.
